National Black Pudding day
The Smokin' Butcher, Hugh Maguire and the doyenne of Irish cooking, Darina Allen have teamed up to launch National Black Pudding Day, which will take place on Sunday, 3 November 2019.
The event will celebrate the craft behind this traditional Irish product, which has enjoyed a huge revival in recent years, and will also be an opportunity to share delicious and diverse black pudding recipes.
What's happening ..
Hugh and Darina will be exploring forgotten Irish cuts and discussing some of the lost skills in Irish cooking. Darina is a well-known cookbook author and television presenter. She writes weekly for the Irish Examiner and other occasional pieces as well as the leader of the East Cork Slow Food Convivium. Darina has been a key activist in promoting organics, sustainable production and zero waste in the kitchen.
The Smokin' Butcher - Hugh Maguire and Darina will be doing the first live demonstration on making Traditional Black pudding - the artisan way, re-creating #TheSmokinButchers award-winning Smoked Black Pudding.
